8/9/2009 6 pm. The most destructive storm to hit the Village of Fruitport in current history was over with as fast as it came. Now it is up to residents to pickup the pieces and put things back together. While storm damage was extensive throughout the Village there was only one death attributed to the storm.   No other serious injuries were reported.

At the peak of electrical restoration efforts for the Muskegon Area, the majority in Fruitport , Consumer's deployed 156 additional line crews, 46 contractor crews, 41 forestry crews, and 20 damage assessment teams.

90-100 utility poles were sent directly to Fruitport to replace damaged or destroyed poles.

Between 6:00 PM 08/09/09 and Midnight 08/12/09 the Muskegon Area (including Fruitport) experienced 442 wire downs, and 8 High Voltage Distribution outages.
